British Steel.
Has been declared insolvent so 25,000 jobs at risk.

One of the causes is cheap steel from China.

Why don’t we put tariffs on Chinese steel so that it loses its appeal?

Faridge didn't vote and Cameron stopped the tariffs being out on at the rate the EU wanted to.

The EU does not preclude the UK from bailing out British Steel.

Badly managed shambles like most old British firms. But it's ok well be much better off on our own with our badly run firms and a much smaller market.

BREXIT LOGIC

What they did with Comet was use a company to acquire and run Comet, clear off the debts with a loan (charged at exorbitant rates) secured against Comet's assets and charge vast management fees.
When Comet went bust they got first dibs from the money raised by liquidation and none of the liabilities which is why the government stepped in and had to shell out for redundency payments.
Delightful bunch

I imagine Greybull got it one way or another.
Fees, consultancy, financial engineering chicanery...
Generally how they operate.

For the parts now owned by Greybull the British Steel Pension is no longer an issue, when Greybull bought it , for a penny, they stopped their association with it and began there own pension fund, not a salary defined one, that is just for the South Wales plants as far as a understand. So back to the earlier posts Greybull are not responsible for having to pay into the old pension fund. I just wonder what happened to any profits they made in the last 2/3 years as the rail mill is a profitable area.

I suspect that if Hitler had been BRITISH, and had a policy was to beef up the as-then BRITISH Empire, he wouldn't have lost many votes amongst those eligible to put a cross in the box.

He wasn't and he didn't, so that makes him a cunt. That's how it works, isn't it?

I've always said that some alternate version of Bolty would have vigorously cheered on Hitler in the mid 1930s.
